Rachel a Brave Autistic Young Lady

Rachel is  beautiful inside and out. She is pursuing her dreams and nothing is stopping her, that's so wonderful to hear. Way to go Rachel! She has a mother who believes in her like her mother did all those years ago. Not knowing her daughter had HF Autism , no one knew of  these syndromes and disorders back in the 50s when she was grown up in London England.

“I show people that I can do anything despite my disability. Be yourself no matter what, and don’t let others define who you are.”

Later this month, one Florida woman will make history as the first contestant with autism to take the stage at the Miss Florida pageant, which is part of the Miss America pageant system.

Back in The 50s When They didn't Know of  these Syndromes

For herself, her mother knew she was different and painfully shy and wasn't like the other children. Her mom became a mamma bear protected her the best way possible. Teaching her daughter right from wrong; even when she was bullied and ran home crying, she would explain the situation to her in a calm and loving way. To think of the other person's feelings because you never know what they may be going through. Also she taught her to have very good manners that was very important, being British and to treat people how you want to be treated.

What's important for autistic children to have someone to help and take care of their needs, be there for them no matter what and to build self confidence. To teach them to go out and experience different scenarios, to be able to live and survive in this complex world, which can be difficult. They can be naive and do need protection, they also have a sixth sense; that intuition if they listen to it. Her mother let her daughter  to go out into the world on her own, she needed to get away from her father and her mom would shout him down.  She didn't want her to be afraid of the outside world, to follow their dreams.  They have wonderful gifts and if they are able to focus on things that are intriguing and important to them ...... Sky's The Limit!!!! They will do extremely well. and  wouldn't it be boring if everyone was alike?
